Distributor provides 24 hour turnaround for water industry pressure sensors

DCL 9500When engineers in the water industry need replacement pressure transducers, they need them quickly. This has traditionally been a problem for suppliers, particularly as almost every unit differs in terms of pressure range and cabling lengths. The lack of stock-holding means extended lead times of up to 6 weeks for some suppliers based on the configuration required.

Now, a specialist water distributor, South West Instrumentation, is able to offer submersible and standard pressure sensors, cabled and ranged to customer requirements next day. Following an agreement with pressure sensor manufacturer Gems Sensors, South West Instrumentation (SWI) has set up a production facility to cable, range, test and calibrate almost all of the Gems Sensors range of pressure products for the water market.

SWI's Chris Grew says, "Based on our existing customers' feedback regarding delivery requirements, the agreement with Gems Sensors makes perfect sense. What makes this even more appealing is that we can maintain the 5 year anti water ingress warranty offered by Gems as we utilise their triple sealing manufacturing methods".

SWI is the first distributor in the UK to stock Gems' two new digital sensors for the water industry, the DCL 9300 and 9500. These sensors are unique in offering the highest accuracy for this type of sensor. At 0.1% total level error band these sensors are the market leaders. They even compensate for the seasonal temperature effects on the specific gravity of the water being measured. SWI supplies water industry products from a number of principals, including Churchill Controls, Zymax, Contrinex and Rechner from its Wiltshire base, and can supply the Gems units across the UK.
